In 2021, it was announced that the Oscar-winning filmmaker for Best Director for La La Land In 2016, Damien Chazelle was working on a new project, of which much was unknown and it was only known that it would be a film about the transition from silent to sound cinema.
After a long wait to know the details of this film, this September 13, Paramount Pictures revealed the first trailer for Babylonthe new film from the American producer that will be set in Los Angeles in the 1920s.
The film is written and directed by the filmmaker famous for first-man Y whiplash. During a preview of just over two minutes, the teaser shows us that the film will have a spectacular cast that is headed by Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Tobey Maguire, Katherine Waterston, Eric Roberts, Samara Weaving, Olivia Wilde, Diego Calva, Lukas Haas and Frederick Koehler.
The film is a musical drama set in Hollywood where most of the characters are fictional and shows the rise and fall of various actors in a world that is corrupted by vice and excess. The plot focuses on the story of an aspiring actress who causes chaos in front of the great movie star of that moment, a character who is played by Brad Pitt.
For this film, Chazelle brought together many of the collaborators with whom he won the Oscar for La La Landincluding cinematographer Linus Sandgren and composer Justin Hurtwitz, who have supported him in capturing and reflecting how flamboyant and brazen that world was during the time.
The American director, screenwriter and producer in charge of Babylon refers to this project as the largest and most ambitious of his entire career, since he hopes that the idea of ”hasty and irresponsible ambition” that he wanted to give as the main idea for the film will triumph in theaters and be liked by the public .
It was definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Just the logistics, the number of characters, the scale of the settings, the time span that the movie shows all conspired to make it particularly challenging, but it was a challenge that was very exciting to take on.

The trailer shows that the film will be full of life and lots of music, especially from jazzso for three hours, the film will tell a story full of colossal ambition and scandalous excess, which is expected to have its theatrical release on December 25, 2022.
