Strong chest, wide hips… Your body type is rather curvy. It’s not always easy to dress when you’re curvy and especially to be trendy when you don’t exactly match the latest tops that you find in the front page of all magazines! However, there is no shortage of ideas to dress your already feminine body.
Follow our advice on what plus size clothing to wear and what fashion faux pas to avoid.
Dressing when you’re curvy: what to choose
Thanks to a few well-chosen elements and one or two accessories , dressing like a diva is possible, whatever your morphology! Some essentials to have in your closet.
High-waisted, fluid, long pants if you’re tall, and a little shorter if you’re petite. Choose wide if you want to camouflage your thighs.
A jacket that will reach you below the hips. It should not be too wide so it will enhance your cleavage, even more if you have a large bust.
A summer dress with a low neckline, right up to the birth of the breasts.
A long, fluid evening dress, tight at chest level and flared below in a Roman style.
A thin belt to drop on the hips.
Clothes with vertical lines. They will give a slimming effect by lengthening the silhouette.
Fluid materials, with a vertical fall to give more structure.
Tops with long, loose sleeves and banish bustiers and tank tops if you have thick arms.
Tunics, long shirts always slightly fitted or worn with a belt to avoid the potato sack effect.
Dressing when you’re curvy: fashion faux pas to avoid
Because you shouldn’t live dangerously, here is the list of horrors (and not mistakes, you will have noticed) to avoid:
The short jacket that crushes the chest: if you have large hips they will be doubled… Ouch!
Low waist pants: if you have generous shapes, jeans or other pants may come down at the slightest movement.
The mini skirt.
The mesh pants: their pockets thicken the hips.
Clothing overlays, except possibly tank tops.
The small short tops beware of the overflowing stomach.
Shiny fabrics that let everything show.
Stretch materials that tend to bite us!
Dressing when you’re curvy: tips to refine your silhouette
If you feel good about yourself, we will see you first, and not your curves.
Draw the eye to the parts of your body that you prefer, whether curvy or not. You will like the look on you and be even sexier.
Black and dark colors make it possible to hide the curves, to reduce the volumes … Do not overdo it all the same. You can (must?) Be curvy and wear color.
Harmonize the patterns and accessories to your curves: choose imposing jewelry , voluminous hairstyles, this will harmonize your silhouette.
Be careful, contrary to popular belief, it is better to wear clothes that are a little fitted than too wide.
Finally, the important thing is to feel beautiful and good in your body.
