Stanley Kubrick movies are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for fashion. The most recent comes from the Italian house Gucci, which was inspired by the abundant universe of the American filmmaker to stage its fall-winter 2022 collection.
As usual, Gucci once again surprised with its latest campaign for the collection Exquisite, which included an amazing collaboration with Adidas. The result is a real delight for fashionistas and moviegoers, since it is based on the great classics of the legendary Stanley Kubrick.
Creative director Alessandro Michele’s latest campaign for the Italian house is a fusion of storytelling, eclecticism and discord, recreating iconic scenes from Stanley’s incredible oeuvre, including 2001: a space odyssey (1968), clockwork orange (1971), Barry Lyndon (1975), The glow (1980) and Eyes wide Shut (1999).
A nearly 90-second video, shot by fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, perfectly captures Kubrick’s cinematic genius and combines it with the talented Alessandro’s passion for clothing.
The creative commitment behind the campaign was such that even the models were carefully selected to look as much like the actors in the movies as possible, wearing everything from vintage-inspired garments to futuristic Gucci apparel for adults and children.
Additionally, the celebrated fashion house partnered with costume designer Milena Canonero, who worked with Kubrick on his films. Warner Bros. and Turner Entertainment Co. were also hired as campaign partners to ensure absolute accuracy to the legendary work of Stanley Kubrick.
