Visit animal shelter and adopt the oldest dog in the place

Organizations that fight for animal rights carry out campaigns that promote the adoption of dogs and cats. Unfortunately, the response is not as high as they want. However, those who do it have the joy of bringing home a piece of unconditional love and, in the process, repair the heart of a little animal that was abandoned to its fate.

This is precisely what a little boy did, who in the company of his mother adopted a dog, but not just any, but an old one to make him spend his best days full of love, pampering, food and the home he always deserved. His story is already making the rounds on social media.

They abandoned him to his fate

Shey, a poodle 14-year-old miniature, was handed over to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, in the United States, by his own family, who claimed that they could not take care of him anymore because they had to move out of town and did not have enough space.

The puppy was accepted by the local rescuers, who regretted his situation because he was sick, deaf, with visual problems and his teeth only had one tooth. His deplorable state made them believe that he would not be adopted and would spend his last days there. Fortunately, his situation was not like that and four months after entering the shelter he was adopted by a little boy named Tristan.

A second chance came into his life

The staff of the place explained to the minor and his mother all of Shey’s physical limitations, the medical care and the care that she should receive due to her state of health and advanced age.

Tristan listened carefully to the instructions and wrote down the dates and times of the medication that Shey needs to take. Rescuer Jessica Jorgenson was shocked by the boy’s attitude and, at the same time, she was convinced that Shey would finally have the family she deserved.

Tristan and his mom took Shey into a cuddle room and he snuggled into the little boy’s lap and relaxed. The smiles on his face said it all.

Friends forever!

Shey and Tristan created an unbreakable bond of friendship. It was common to see them for a walk and they used to visit the animal shelter where they met to bring donations to other puppies. Unfortunately, Shey died and Tristan had to say goodbye to him.

We are sorry to say that Shey recently passed away. The loss of his friend hit Tristan hard, but he was glad to be able to give her so much love in her final months.

After a while, Tristan and his mother returned to the shelter and the boy adopted a dog named Gus, who, like Shey, was old and sick. Gus and Tristan now spend their days together, going on walks, helping out at the animal shelter, and remembering Shey as the loving dog she once was.
